Śūnya Dhāraṇā · Dhāraṇā 94

माया विमोहिनी नाम कलायाः कलनं स्थितम् । इत्यादिधर्मतत्त्वेन चिन्तयेत्तत्त्वतः सुखी ॥

māyā vimohinī nāma kalāyāḥ kalanaṃ sthitam | ity ādi dharmatattvena cintayet tattvataḥ sukhī ||

Māyā, she who fascinates, is the movement of the kalās — contemplating thus the nature of dharmas, from truth, happiness is attained.

Ninety-fourth technique. The nature of māyā. Māyā vimohinī nāma — māyā, whose name is “the fascinating.” Not illusion as deception but as fascination. The universe does not deceive us — it fascinates us. And in fascination we forget who we are.

Kalāyāḥ kalanaṃ sthitam — the movement of kalās, the fractions of time and creativity. Māyā is not static. It is constant movement, constant fragmentation. It divides the one into many. It divides the instant into past and future. It divides Being into self and other.

Dharmatattvena cintayet — contemplate the essential nature of this process. Do not reject it. Do not condemn it. Understand its mechanics. How does it fascinate? How does it divide? When you see the trick of the magician, the magic does not disappear — but it no longer deceives you. Tattvataḥ sukhī — from truth, happiness. Understanding māyā is being free within it.
