Beyond whom there is nothing higher, smaller than whom there is nothing greater —that unique Puruṣa abides in His own glory, and He is this world; He is food and life, He is all that exists.
The simultaneity of the infinite and the infinitesimal: the Puruṣa is greater than the greatest (contains the universe) and smaller than the smallest (dwells in the heart’s atom). This apparent contradiction resolves in the experience of unity. He is anna (food/physical sustenance) and also the vital principle that animates it. In our yoga practice, when we contemplate that what we eat, what we breathe, what we think, everything is Him, the ordinary act becomes sacred. The sat-tattva (essence of reality) is simultaneously transcendent and immanent.
