Putra

Son. Putra embodies the dharmic duty of lineage continuity, yet in the Bhagavad Gītā (1.34-35) it is precisely this bond that paralyzes Arjuna before battle. Symbolically, the putra is also the spiritual disciple — one who receives the teaching — and the guru-śiṣya tradition assimilates this to a filiation of the soul where the true lineage is one not of blood but of jnana.
