असक्तिरनभिष्वङ्गः पुत्रदारगृहादिषु | नित्यं च समचित्तत्वमिष्टानिष्टोपपत्तिषु
asaktir anabhiṣvaṅgaḥ putra-dāra-gṛhādiṣu | nityaṃ ca sama-cittatvam iṣṭāniṣṭopapattiṣu
Non-attachment and non-identification with sons, wife, home and so on, and always equanimity in the occurrence of the pleasant and unpleasant.
The practitioner maintains asakti — absence of clinging — even toward family relationships. This is not rejection but inner freedom from dependency.
Anabhiṣvaṅga means not considering anything as “mine.” The sense of possession (mamatva) creates bonds that restrict consciousness.
Sama-cittatva — equanimity of mind — is tested when iṣṭa (desired) or aniṣṭa (undesired) events occur. The stable mind remains balanced in both situations.
