Karma Yoga · Verse 7

यस्त्विन्द्रियाणि मनसा नियम्यारभतेऽर्जुन | कर्मेन्द्रियैः कर्मयोगमसक्तः स विशिष्यते

But whoever, oh Arjuna, controls the senses with the mind and, without attachment, performs the yoga of action with the organs of action, that one is superior.

Here the true Karma Yoga is defined: action with the senses under the dominion of the mind, detached from results. The order is crucial — first manas (mind), then karmendriya (organs).

Asakti — non-attachment — is the distinguishing quality. It is not indifference but inner freedom. Viśiṣyate — “is distinguished” or “superior” — indicates that this practitioner surpasses both the forced ascetic and the worldly actor. The synthesis: use action as a vehicle of transformation, not as escape nor as indulgence.
