Karma Yoga · Verse 6

कर्मेन्द्रियाणि संयम्य य आस्ते मनसा स्मरन् | इन्द्रियार्थान्विमूढात्मा मिथ्याचारः स उच्यते

karmendriyāṇi saṃyamya ya āste manasā smaran | indriyārthān vimūḍhātmā mithyācāraḥ sa ucyate

Whoever restrains the organs of action but remembers in the mind the objects of the senses, that being of confused soul is called a hypocrite.

Krishna warns against inner resentment, superficial asceticism. Mithyācāra — “false conduct” — designates one who pretends renunciation while nourishing desires.

Yoga is not physical denial but inner transformation. The karmendriyāṇi — hands, feet, organs of reproduction and excretion, speech — may be controlled while manas (mind) wanders. True discipline operates first in the mental field. Repressed resentment is distinguished from genuine renunciation (vairāgya) by its basis: the former arises from willpower, the latter from clear vision.
