सनातन

Sanātana

concepto

Eternal, perpetual, ancient without beginning — that which has always been and always will be. The term describes the timeless truth beneath changing appearances.

Sanātana dharma is the “eternal law” — the underlying order of reality, not a religion but the natural way things are. The [[Bhagavad Gītā]] (2.20) calls the Self sanātana because it is never born and never dies.

It contrasts with temporal phenomena: the body ages, relationships shift, empires fall, but the principle of awareness remains unchanged. To know oneself as sanātana is to touch the deathless.
