Puruṣottama Yoga · Verse 7
ममैवांशो जीवलोके जीवभूतः सनातनः | मनःषष्ठानीन्द्रियाणि प्रकृतिस्थानि कर्षति
mamaivāṃśo jīva-loke jīva-bhūtaḥ sanātanaḥ | manaḥ-ṣaṣṭhānīndriyāṇi prakṛti-sthāni karṣati
A portion of Myself, made jiva, eternal in the world of jivas, attracts with it the senses with the mind as sixth, abiding in prakṛti.
Kṛṣṇa reveals His nature as the Puruṣottama: the jiva is mamaivāṃśa — My own portion (aṃśa), not a separate creation. This portion becomes jīva-bhūta — the conditioned living entity, but remains sanātana — eternal, without origin or end.
The jiva “attracts” (karṣati) with it a complete set: the five external senses plus the mind (manas) as sixth (ṣaṣṭha), all of them prakṛti-sthāni — situated in material nature. The jiva is a reflection of the complete Lord, but limited, equipped to interact with prakṛti.
