Svarga

Heaven, paradise, world of the gods. Svarga is the temporary reward of good karma (puṇya), a celestial state of pleasure and luminosity. In BG 9.21, Kṛṣṇa teaches that those who reach svarga exhaust their merit and return to the mortal world: svarga is not liberation but a pause in the cycle. The Upaniṣads distinguish between the path of the gods (devayāna) toward liberation and the path of the fathers (pitṛyāna) toward svarga and return. See naraka and [[moksa]].
