Chapter 15 · Verse 9

गुणैः संवेष्टितो देहस्तिष्ठत्यायाति याति च

guṇaiḥ saṃveṣṭito dehastiṣṭhatyāyāti yāti ca | ātmā na gantā nāgantā kimenamanuś

The body (deha), clothed in guṇas, remains, comes, and goes — subject to the cycle of birth and death. But the Ātman neither goes nor comes. The body’s movements are not the Self’s movements. This distinction is not dualistic — it recognizes that the appearance of movement occurs within the immovable awareness that is your true nature.
