Chapter 15 · Verse 8

श्रद्धस्व तात श्रद्धस्व नात्र मोहं कुरुष्व भोः

śraddhasva tāta śraddhasva nātra mohaṃ kuruṣva bhoḥ | jñānasvarūpo bhagavānātmā

Aṣṭāvakra addresses Janaka with urgent tenderness: “Believe, dear one (tāta), believe! Do not fall into delusion here.” The Lord Ātman is of the nature of jñāna — knowledge itself. This is not a proposition to be argued but a truth to be recognized directly. The repetition of “believe” conveys the compassionate insistence of the teacher, knowing that the only obstacle to liberation is the mind’s habitual doubt.
