Jñāna Yoga · Verse 28
द्रव्ययज्ञास्तपोयज्ञा योगयज्ञास्तथापरे | स्वाध्यायज्ञानयज्ञाश्च यतयः संशितव्रताः
dravya-yajñās tapo-yajñā yoga-yajñās tathāpare | svādhyāya-jñāna-yajñāś ca yatayaḥ saṃśita-vratāḥ
Others are sacrificers of wealth, sacrificers of austerity, sacrificers of yoga, sacrificers of study and knowledge, ascetics of strict vows.
Classification of types of sacrifice. Dravya-yajña — sacrifice of wealth — charity.
Tapa-yajña — sacrifice of austerity — discipline. Yoga-yajña — sacrifice of yoga — meditation. Svādhyāya-jñāna-yajña — sacrifice of study and knowledge — discernment. The yatayaḥ — ascetics — saṃśita-vratāḥ — of strict vows — are those who practice these forms. All is sacrifice when offered without attachment.
