Dvitīyopadeśaḥ (Āsana) · Verse 20

गोमुखासनमाख्यातं देहदोषविनाशनम् | तत्प्रकारं प्रवक्ष्यामि शृणु त्वं कमलानने ||

gomukhāsanam ākhyātaṃ dehadoṣavināśanam | tatprakāraṃ pravakṣyāmi śṛṇu tvaṃ kamalānane ||

Gomukhāsana — the cow’s face posture. The cow is sacred in India; its mouth, which gives milk and sustenance, is a symbol of divine nourishment.

“Destroyer of the impurities of the body” (deha-doṣa-vināśanam). This posture cleanses not only physically but also energetically. The twist compresses and releases internal organs.

The invocation “O lotus-faced one” (kamalānanam) is a poetic formula directing the teaching toward a worthy disciple. The oral tradition required this preparation before transmitting technical knowledge.
