Dvitīyopadeśaḥ (Āsana) · Verse 54
वृषासनमथो वक्ष्ये योगिनां सुखसाधकम् | गुल्फौ च वृषणस्याधः सीवन्याः पार्श्वयोः क्रमात् ||
vṛṣāsanam atho vakṣye yogināṃ sukhasādhanam | gulphau ca vṛṣaṇasyādhaḥ sīvanyāḥ pārśvayoḥ kramāt ||
Vṛṣāsana — the bull posture. The bull is a symbol of strength, fertility, and constancy. It is the vehicle of Śiva, representing stabilized cosmic power.
“Facilitator of happiness.” Although the initial description is similar to other seated postures, Vṛṣāsana has its own distinctive characteristics in the complete tradition.
The bull remains immobile even under provocation. This posture develops that same quality of sthairya — unshakeable stability in the face of distractions.
