Pañcamopadeśaḥ (Prāṇāyāma) · Verse 12
सीत्कारी महती मुद्रा सर्वरोगविनाशिनी | तत्प्रकारं प्रवक्ष्यामि शृणु त्वं कमलानने ||
sītkārī mahatī mudrā sarvarogavināśinī | tatprakāraṃ pravakṣyāmi śṛṇu tvaṃ kamalānane ||
Sītkārī — the one that makes the sīt sound. It is characterized by inhaling with the tongue between the teeth, creating a hissing sound.
“Destroyer of all diseases” — it has broad therapeutic properties. It is especially cooling and calming.
Like Ujjāyī, it is called mudrā rather than prāṇāyāma, indicating it includes sealing components.
