Tṛtīyopadeśaḥ (Mudrā) · Verse 58

उड्डीयाणं तु सहजं गुरुणा कथितं सदा | अभ्यसेत्सततं यस्तु वृद्धोऽपि तरुणायते

uḍḍīyāṇaṃ tu sahajaṃ guruṇā kathitaṃ sadā | abhyaset satataṃ yas tu vṛddho 'pi taruṇāyate

Uḍḍīyāna, always taught by the guru as natural, when practiced constantly, even the old man becomes young.

Sahajam — natural.Although Uḍḍīyāna Bandha requires learning, when mastered it becomes a spontaneous and effortless action.Guruṇā kathitam sadā — always taught by the guru.This technique requires direct instruction to avoid errors.

Abhyaset satatam — practice constantly.Regularity is essential to reap the benefits.It is not enough to practice occasionally.

Vṛddho ‘pi taruṇāyate — even the old becomes young.This is one of the most celebrated benefits of Uḍḍīyāna: tangible rejuvenating effects.Massage of the internal organs, stimulation of the digestive system and activation of the solar plexus contribute to this revitalization.The Bihar School emphasizes these documentable physiological effects.
