It binds the network of canals and the celestial water flowing downward.Therefore Jālandhara Bandha destroys the multitude of afflictions of the throat.

This verse explains the subtle mechanism of Jālandhara.Sirā-jālam is the network of channels (nāḍīs) that converge in the throat region, particularly in viśuddhi cakra.By contracting the throat, this network is “tied” or sealed, preventing the dispersion of prāṇa.

Nabho-jalam — “heavenly water” — is the amṛta or nectar that, according to Tantric physiology, drips from the inner moon (soma cakra, located near bindu) and normally descends to be consumed by the solar fire in maṇipūra.Jālandhara stops this fall, preserving the nectar that confers immortality.

The practical benefit mentioned is kaṇṭha-duḥkha-ogha-nāśana — destruction of throat afflictions.This includes physical disorders (thyroid, throat, vocal cord problems) and subtle disorders (blocks in expression, communication, creativity).Viśuddhi cakra governs purification and expression;Jālandhara stimulates and balances it.
