Pañcamaḥ paṭalaḥ — Dhyāna

Sanskrit text

योगसिद्धिर्भवेत्तस्य क्रमेणैव न संशयः ।

Transliteration

yogasiddhirbhavettasya krameṇaiva na saṃśayaḥ |

Translation

Yoga-siddhi arises for that one gradually, without doubt: the text guarantees the result of regular practice with this final certainty.

Commentary

The adverb krameṇa (gradually, step by step) is pedagogically honest and reassuring: liberation does not require a sudden leap but an organic ripening. «No doubt» (na saṃśayaḥ) closes the guarantee with the same certainty formula appearing at the text’s most critical moments. Yogasiddhi is not a possibility but a necessary consequence of correct and sustained practice.

Yoga-siddhi = yoga perfection (yoga = union, siddhi = perfectly accomplished achievement), bhaveta = would arise/emerge, tasya = of that person (reference to the described practitioner), krameṇa = gradually, in sequential steps (krama = step, sequence, grade), eva = certainly, without exception, na saṃśayaḥ = no doubt.

The krama as liberation’s mode opposes both the illusion of sudden enlightenment and discouragement at the apparent slowness of progress. The Krama tradition in Kashmir Shaivism articulated this understanding philosophically: liberation unfolds through stages (krama = sequence/step), but the direction is always the same and the destination is guaranteed. The Śiva-saṃhitā adheres to this gradualist understanding without denying the possibility of sudden grace (ākasmika-śaktipāta).
