गीतादिविषयास्वादासमसौख्यैकतात्मनः । योगिनस्तन्मयत्वेन मनोरूढेस्तदात्मता ॥

For the yogi whose mind is absorbed, becoming one with the uniform joy equal to the relish of song and other sense objects — arises identity with That.

Sixty-ninth dhāraṇā. Music as path. Gītādiviṣayāsvāda — the savoring of song and other sense objects. Music has unique power: it dissolves the boundaries of self without effort. In musical absorption, the listener disappears.

Samasaukhyaikatātmanaḥ — one whose nature has become one with uniform joy. Not joy that rises and falls with the notes. The continuous, equal joy underlying the melody. The silence between notes is as joyful as the notes themselves.

Tanmayatvena manorūḍheḥ tadātmatā — by complete absorption of mind, arises identity with That. Tadātmatā — being-that. Not “experiencing” music. Being the music. The yogi who listens with the totality of being discovers that the source of sound and the source of consciousness are one.
