Though this body moves, the consciousness that pervades it is not stained

Spanda — vibration, movement, the very pulsation of existence. The body vibrates, the breath vibrates, thought vibrates. The consciousness that enables all this movement is not contaminated by it any more than space is contaminated by the clouds that pass through it. The verse anticipates the central image of the Aṣṭāvakra Gītā: you are not the body that moves, but the space in which movement occurs.
