Greed, avarice. One of the ṣaḍripu (six internal enemies) that obscure the nature of the soul. In the Bhagavad-gītā, lobha blinds discernment and leads to compulsive accumulation, turning the practitioner away from dharma. Its opposite is generosity (dāna). See raja, moha.
