- HYP 2.5While the nāḍīs are full of impurities, breath cannot enter the central channel. How then can the state of no-mind arise? How can there be success in the goal?
- HYP 2.6When the entire nāḍī system, previously full of impurities, becomes purified, then the yogī becomes capable of retaining prāṇa.
- HYP 2.31One who has excess fat and phlegm should first practice the six purificatory acts. Others should not practice them, as their doṣas are in balance.
- HYP 2.32Dhauti, basti, neti, trāṭaka, nauli, and kapālabhāti — these are known as the six karmas.
- HYP 2.33These six karmas, which should be kept secret, purify the body, produce marvelous qualities, and are venerated by the best yogīs.
- HYP 2.34Now dhauti: a cloth four fingers wide and fifteen spans long, moistened, should be swallowed slowly following the method taught by the guru.
- HYP 2.37Now basti: seated in utkaṭāsana in water up to the navel, with a tube inserted in the anus, contracting the sphincter, thus one should practice basti.
- HYP 2.38Abdominal tumors, spleen diseases, and dropsy, and all diseases born of vāta, pitta, and kapha are destroyed by the power of basti.
- HYP 2.45Now nauli: with the shoulders bent forward, rotating the abdomen rapidly from left to right — this is nauli, praised by the siddhas.
- HYP 2.47Now kapālabhāti: rapid exhalation and inhalation like the bellows of a blacksmith — this is known as kapālabhāti, which dries up kapha disorders.
- HYP 4.114One should retain (prāṇa/mind) until stability is achieved and transcendence occurs. This practice of rāja yoga purifies the nāḍīs.
