Chapter 18 · Verse 20
प्रवृत्तौ वा निवृत्तौ वा नैव धीरस्य दुर्ग्रहः
pravṛttau vā nivṛttau vā naiva dhīrasya durgrahaḥ | yadā yatkartumāyāti tatkṛtvā
In chapter 18 (Janaka’s liberation), verse 20 deepens the teaching of non-duality. In Advaita Vedānta philosophy, this verse of the Aṣṭāvakra Gītā reveals that freedom is inherent to the Self and requires no acquisition.
