Chapter 18 · Verse 31

निर्ध्यातुं चेष्टितुं वापि यच्चित्तं न प्रवर्तते

nirdhyātuṃ ceṣṭituṃ vāpi yaccittaṃ na pravartate | nirnimittamidaṃ kintu nirdhyā

In chapter 18 (Janaka’s liberation), verse 31 deepens the teaching of non-duality. In Advaita Vedānta philosophy, this verse of the Aṣṭāvakra Gītā reveals that freedom is inherent to the Self and requires no acquisition.
