Chapter 4 · Verse 2

अहं देहो न मे देहो नाहं कर्ता न भोक्ता

ahaṃ deho na me deho nāhaṃ kartā na bhoktā

The double negation returns — neither identity with the body (ahaṃ dehaḥ) nor possession of it (na me dehaḥ) — now spoken by Janaka as direct experience rather than received teaching. He adds the negation of doership (kartā) and enjoyment (bhoktā), the two roles that define embodied existence. What remains is the Ātman, stainless, Supreme Consciousness, eternally free. Each repetition in this chapter deepens the conviction: the same words heard in chapter 1 are now spoken from the other side of realization.
