Yo ca brāhmaṇassa hoti, so ceva brāhmaṇo hoti; Na hi tena brāhmaṇo hoti, yāvad eva brāhmaṇo hoti.

What belongs to Brahman, that is Brahman; not by that is one Brahman, until one is Brahman.
Verses 400-404 are variations on the same theme: distinguishing being from title. The Buddha uses repetition to emphasize something Indian society did not grasp.
The brahmin of caste has properties, lineage, rituals. The brāhmaṇa of the Dhamma has transcended them all.
