विद्याविनयसम्पन्ने ब्राह्मणे गवि हस्तिनि | शुनि चैव श्वपाके च पण्डिताः समदर्शिनः

vidyā-vinaya-sampanne brāhmaṇe gavi hastini | śuni caiva śva-pāke ca paṇḍitāḥ sama-darśinaḥ

In the brāhmaṇa endowed with wisdom and humility, in the cow, in the elephant, in the dog and in the dog-eater, the wise see with equal vision.

Equanimous vision. Vidya-vinaya-sampanne — endowed with learning and humility — describes the ideal brāhmaṇa.

The list includes: brāhmaṇa (priest), go (cow), hastin (elephant), śvan (dog), śva-pāka (outcaste, dog-eater) — complete range of society. Sama-darśinaḥ — of equal vision — see the ātman — Self — equal in all. They do not see forms but essence; they do not judge but comprehend.
