Vidyā

True knowledge. From the root “vid” (to know, to see). The opposite of avidyā (ignorance).

In Vedānta, direct knowledge of ultimate reality, not mere intellectual information. In Yoga Sūtra, avidyā heads the five kleśas (afflictions) — vidyā is its antidote.
