विद्याभूमिः सम्प्रपद्यते संसारः । तमसः पारं तीर्त्वा मृत्युं पुनरपि जन्मनः ॥ २२॥
vidyābhūmiḥ samprapadyate saṃsāraḥ | tamaḥ pāraṃ tīrtvā mṛtyuṃ punar api janmanaḥ
Life that continues after death is for those who are in ignorance, not for those who are in knowledge.
This verse presents a clear vision of saṃsāra (cycle of births and deaths) as the inevitable destiny of those who remain in avidyā. Those who possess vidyā (true knowledge) transcend this cycle. It does not imply a denial of existence after death, but rather the affirmation that those who know the Ātman are not subject to forced reincarnation. For the practitioner of yoga, this verse is a motivation for the search for jñāna (liberating knowledge) that transcends death itself.
