Brāhmaṇavagga · The Brahmin · Gāthā 422
Yo ceva brāhmaṇoti vuccati, so ceva brāhmaṇo hoti; So ceva brāhmaṇoti vuccati, so eva brāhmaṇo hoti.
Yo ceva brāhmaṇoti vuccati, so ceva brāhmaṇo hoti; so ceva brāhmaṇoti vuccati, so eva brāhmaṇo hoti.
Who is called Brahman, is Brahman; who is called Brahman, is truly Brahman.
The last two verses (422, 423) close the Dhammapada. The text does not end with intellectual summary, but with affirmation of spiritual identity.
The brāhmaṇa is the culmination of the path. Not a superior state in a hierarchy, but the dissolution of hierarchy itself.
