Prathamopadeśaḥ (Ṣaṭkarma) · Verse 37

ततः प्रसन्न इन्द्रियः प्रवर्तते योगपदे महान् | षट्कर्मकृद्योगी चिरं जीवति निरामयः ||

tataḥ prasanna indriyaḥ pravartate yogapade mahān | ṣaṭkarmakṛdyogī ciraṃ jīvati nirāmayaḥ ||

Final verse of the chapter. Serene senses (prasanna indriyaḥ) are the result of bodily purification. When the body is clean, the senses are not distracted seeking compensatory gratification; they are content, at peace.

The “great state of yoga” (yoga-pade mahān) is the goal. The ṣaṭkarmas are not ends in themselves but preparation for this condition.

The promise of longevity free from disease (ciraṃ jīvati nirāmayaḥ) is practical, not metaphysical. A purified body, with strong agni and balanced doṣas, functions optimally for longer.
