Dvitīyopadeśaḥ (Āsana) · Verse 64
योगासनमथो वक्ष्ये योगिनां सुखसाधकम् | तत्प्रकारं प्रवक्ष्यामि शृणु त्वं कमलानने ||
yogāsanam atho vakṣye yogināṃ sukhasādhanam | tatprakāraṃ pravakṣyāmi śṛṇu tvaṃ kamalānane ||
Yogāsana — the posture of yoga itself. It is not a specific posture with an animal or element name; it is the posture that summarizes the essence of yoga. The name indicates its supreme importance.
“Facilitator of happiness.” Of all postures, this one is presented as the one that directly leads to yoga — union, integration, state of completeness.
It likely refers to Padmāsana or Siddhāsana in their most refined form, or to a specific variation of Gheraṇḍa’s lineage. It is the definitive posture for deep meditation.
