Dvitīyopadeśaḥ (Āsana) · Verse 65

दक्षिणं पादमूले तु वामजङ्घां नियोजयेत् | दक्षिणं पादमग्रं तु वामजङ्घोपरि स्थितम् ||

dakṣiṇaṃ pādāmūle tu vāmajaṅghāṃ niyojayet | dakṣiṇaṃ pādamagraṃ tu vāmajaṅghopari sthitam ||

The specific description of Yogāsana seems to have been lost or merged with other postures in the textual transmission. The name suggests an optimal meditation posture.

In Gheraṇḍa’s context, Yogāsana probably refers to a particular configuration of the lotus or Siddhāsana with specific mudrās. It is the posture for rāja yoga.

Regardless of the exact form, the principle is clear: there is a posture that represents the synthesis of all practice, the one in which the body becomes transparent to consciousness.
