The compound ṣoḍaśasvara — sixteen vowels — maps the full range of Sanskrit vocalic sound onto this center. In tantric phonology, vowels (svara) carry the living breath of śakti, the dynamic feminine principle of sound. The term svaropeta (‘endowed with vowels’) reinforces that viśuddha is not merely a location but a resonant field of sonic potential.

Across tantric traditions, the throat center governs not only physical speech but the subtler faculty of inner hearing, śabda.
