Yad etad viduḥ — what they know. Brahman, the Ātman.

Amṛtās te bhavanti — immortal they become. Transformation through knowledge.

Dhyāyanto manuṣyāḥ — humans meditating. Progressive practice.

Tat tvam āpnuvan — that they attain. Knowledge as realization, not just information.

Anuśāsanam — the teaching, the instruction. Oral transmission from the teacher.

Anuṣiṣṭasya vā sataḥ — of the instructor or the instructed. Both, in their relationship, produce valid knowledge.

Sad eva samīcīnam — correct, appropriate. Tradition validates what leads to realization.

Transmitted and received knowledge with the proper attitude produces immortality.
