Indriya Dhāraṇā · Dhāraṇā 55

अतिबन्धप्रयत्नेन संक्षोभ्य शक्तिं भुवि । आपानप्राणसंधौ च पूर्वोक्तं भैरवोदयः ॥

atibandha-prayatnena saṃkṣobhya śaktiṃ bhuvi | āpānaprāṇasandhau ca pūrvoktaṃ bhairavōdayaḥ ||

Agitating śakti at the base with intense effort of the bandhas — at the junction of apāna and prāṇa, as said before, [arises] the dawn of Bhairava.

Fifty-fifth dhāraṇā. An energetic technique connecting to haṭha yoga. Atibandha-prayatnena — with intense effort of the bandhas. Mūlabandha, Uḍḍīyānabandha, Jālandharabandha. The muscular contractions that seal energy.

Saṃkṣobhya śaktim bhuvi — agitating śakti at the base (bhu — earth, the body’s foundation). The kuṇḍalinī slumbering in mūlādhāra. The bandhas stir her, awaken her.

Āpānaprāṇasandhau — at the junction of apāna and prāṇa. Where the two principal currents of vital energy meet at the body’s center. Pūrvokta — as said before. Bhairava refers to previous breath techniques. Bhairavodayaḥ — Bhairava dawns. Absolute consciousness emerges from the body itself.
