Prakaraṇa 1 · Verse 28

यथा गन्धो नाशंसाति वायुर् नान्तर् गच्छति

yathā gandho nāśaṃsāti vāyur nāntar gacchati

As the wind carries fragrance without retaining it

The image of the wind carrying aromas without appropriating them is that of the jīvanmukta in the world. Experience passes through, touches, moves — but does not stay. Not out of coldness but out of transparency. Glass does not retain the light that passes through; that is why it lets light through without distorting it. The jīvanmukta experiences without accumulating, acts without grasping, loves without possessing.
