Prathama-prakaraṇam (Yama) · Verse 41

श्रुत्वैतद्याज्ञवल्क्योक्तं वाक्यं गार्गी मुदान्विता । पुनः प्राह मुनिश्रेष्ठमृषीमध्ये वरानना ॥

śrutvaitadyājñavalkyoktaṃ vākyaṃ gārgī mudānvitā | punaḥ prāha muniśreṣṭhamṛṣīmadhye varānanā ||

Gārgī’s response is one of joy (mudānvitā) — not mere intellectual satisfaction but the delight of genuine understanding. She asks again, this time in the midst of the ṛṣis, with varānanā (beautiful face), indicating her eager readiness. Her persistent questioning models the ideal student: one who does not stop at the first answer but pushes deeper, seeking the fullness of the teaching.
