Dvādaśa-prakaraṇam (Kuṇḍalinī) · Verse 4
This verse offers a succinct and potent affirmation of the transformative power inherent within dedicated yogic practice. The phrase “that yogī participates in liberation” ( moktibhāg bhavét) suggests a dynamic engagement, not merely a passive attainment, wherein the practitioner actively contributes to their own release from samsara and bandhana – the cyclical nature of existence and the chains of karmic bondage. The absence of punarbhava (rebirth) is explicitly stated, representing the cessation of the karmic momentum that drives repeated cycles of birth and death. This liberation isn’t presented as a gift bestowed from an external source, but rather as a consequence of the yogi’s focused, knowledgeable engagement with the truth revealed through yoga, aligning with the Upaniṣadic notion that ātman is ultimately identical with Brahman. The verse underscores the crucial role of vidhi – knowledge – in realizing this state.
