Saptama-prakaraṇam (Dhāraṇā) · Verse 15

एवं ध्यानं मया प्रोक्तं गार्गि ते योगसिद्धये । ध्यायतो नास्ति संसारो मुक्तिर्भवति निश्चिता ॥

evaṃ dhyānaṃ mayā proktaṃ gārgi te yogasiddhaye | dhyāyato nāsti saṃsāro muktirbhavati niścitā ||

This concluding verse of Prakaraṇa 7, addressed directly to Gārgī, offers a potent promise of liberation predicated entirely upon the practice of dhyāna. The assertion that “for one who meditates there is no samsara; liberation is certain” signifies a radical shift from mere ritualistic observance to a transformative experience. Samsara, the cyclical existence characterized by suffering and rebirth, is fundamentally dismantled through sustained, disciplined meditation. This isn’t a passive acceptance of a theoretical truth, but an active dissolving of the ego’s identification with the transient phenomena of the world, ultimately leading to a direct realization of ātman – the true self – aligned with Brahman. The verse’s emphasis on certainty suggests a profound trust in the efficacy of the yogic method, a confidence rooted in the inherent potency of prāṇa and the subtle energies cultivated through meditative practice.
