Navama-prakaraṇam (Samādhi) · Verse 14
एवं नाडीषु वायूनां संयमः परिकीर्तितः । तेन योगी विमुच्यते मरणं नास्ति निश्चितम् ॥
evaṃ nāḍīṣu vāyūnāṃ saṃyamaḥ parikīrtitaḥ | tena yogī vimucyate maraṇaṃ nāsti niścitam ||
This concluding verse of Prakaraṇa IX powerfully synthesizes the preceding discussion on vāyu control within the nāḍī system. The “celebration” of samyama – the disciplined union – on the nāḍī suggests a profound state of equilibrium and refined energy flow, leading to the liberation of the ātman. The assertion that “death does not exist, it is certain” is not a denial of mortality, but a profound understanding rooted in the realization that the prāṇic mastery achieved through this practice transcends the limitations of the physical form. This echoes the Upaniṣadic concept of Brahman, where the individual self, puruṣa, is ultimately inseparable from the universal consciousness, rendering the fear of death – the cessation of individual experience – illusory. Consistent practice, therefore, allows for a continued experience of this liberated state, a stability that surpasses the vicissitudes of worldly existence.
