Chapter 11 · Verse 5
आत्मानं सदा देहं किं मन्यसे निरामयम्
ātmānaṃ sadā dehaṃ kiṃ manyase nirāmayam
Why do you constantly consider the Ātman to be the body, which is free from disease? The Ātman is neither born nor does it die. It is supreme peace, beyond all conception. Chapter 11 continues its dismantling of false identity: the body is subject to change, but the Self is nirāmayam, untouched by the conditions that affect the body. The question is not philosophical but therapeutic — it exposes the root assumption from which all suffering grows.
