Aṣṭāvakra dismantles the most persistent pair of illusions: saṃsāra and mokṣa. The seeker may accept that there is no real bondage, yet still clings to the idea of future liberation. This verse cuts both extremes with the same sword. There is no body and no mind belonging to the self; they are movements in the mind-field, not properties of awareness. The ātman remains ever free and ever one, untouched by the cycles it appears to witness.
