Brāhmaṇavagga · The Brahmin · Gāthā 414
Yo ceva brāhmaṇoti vuccati, so ceva brāhmaṇo hoti; So ceva brāhmaṇoti vuccati, so eva brāhmaṇo hoti.
Yo ceva brāhmaṇoti vuccati, so ceva brāhmaṇo hoti; so ceva brāhmaṇoti vuccati, so eva brāhmaṇo hoti.
Who is called Brahman, is Brahman; who is called Brahman, is truly Brahman.
Repetition of the central theme of the Brāhmaṇavagga: the name does not create reality, reality deserves the name.
The verse functions as section closure: after virtue, we return to the identity of the brāhmaṇa.
