Dvitīyopadeśaḥ (Āsana) · Verse 42

हस्ताभ्यां धारयित्वा तु पादयोरग्रतः स्थितौ | नासाग्रे च धृतेक्षणः क्षुद्ररोगविनाशनम् ||

hastābhyāṃ dhārayitvā tu pādayor agrataḥ sthitau | nāsāgre ca dhṛtekṣaṇaḥ kṣudrarogavināśanam ||

Another verse that seems to belong to another posture in this transmission. The description of Mayūrāsana in other sources is different: balance on forearms, body extended like a peacock.

The tradition of Mayūrāsana includes maintaining the position while breathing normally. The pressure on the abdomen stimulates digestive agni and massages the internal organs.

For the modern practitioner, this posture is accessible with adequate preparation. It strengthens the complete body and develops confidence in balance. It is one of the most complete strength postures.
