Tṛtīyopadeśaḥ (Mudrā) · Verse 49
चलितोऽपि यदा बिन्दुः सम्प्राप्तो योनि-मण्डलम् | व्रजत्यूर्ध्वं हृतः शक्त्या निबद्धो योनि-मुद्रया
calito 'pi yadā binduḥ samprāpto yoni-maṇḍalam | vrajaty ūrdhvaṃ hṛtaḥ śaktyā nibaddho yoni-mudrayā
Even when the bindu has moved and reached the perineum region, it ascends upward, retained by śakti and sealed by Yonimudrā.
Calito binduḥ — when the bindu has moved — indicates a critical situation where the vital essence has begun to descend.Yoni-maṇḍalam samprāptaḥ — having reached the perineum region — the bindu is about to be lost.
Vrajaty ūrdhvam — ascends upward.By applying yogic techniques, this seemingly irreversible process can be reversed.Hṛtaḥ śaktyā — held by śakti — the force of Kuṇḍalinī helps to elevate the bindu.
Nibaddho yoni-mudrayā — sealed by Yonimudrā.This specific mudrā (different from Mūla Bandha) seals the exit and redirects the energy upwards. This verse describes yogic control over normally involuntary physiological processes.
