अध्यात्मज्ञाननित्यत्वं तत्त्वज्ञानार्थदर्शनम् | एतज्ज्ञानमिति प्रोक्तमज्ञानं यदतोऽन्यथा

adhyātma-jñāna-nityatvaṃ tattva-jñānārtha-darśanam | etaj jñānam iti proktam ajñānaṃ yad ato 'nyathā

Constancy in the knowledge of the Self, and the vision of the end of the knowledge of Truth — this is said to be knowledge; the opposite is ignorance.

The summation of virtues: adhyātma-jñāna — knowledge of the Self — maintained nityatvam (constantly), not as sporadic insight but as continuous awareness.

Tattva-jñānārtha-darśanam — seeing the purpose of the knowledge of Truth. Knowledge has an end: liberation. Keeping this goal in view prevents distraction.

What is contrary (anyathā) to this is ajñāna — ignorance. Not mere absence of knowledge but wrong knowledge: identification with the field instead of the knower.
