Mokṣa-Sannyāsa Yoga · Verse 19
ज्ञानं कर्म च कर्ता च त्रिधैव गुणभेदतः | प्रोच्यते गुणसंख्याने यथावच्छृणु तान्यपि
jñānaṃ karma ca kartā ca tri-dhaiva guṇa-bhedataḥ | procyate guṇa-saṅkhyāne yathāvac chṛṇu tāny api
Knowledge, action and the agent, triples according to the division of the guṇas, are said in the doctrine of the guṇas. Hear those also properly.
Extension of the tripartite analysis. Three elements (jñāna, karma, kartā) are tri-dhaiva — triple only — by guṇa-bhedataḥ — division of the guṇas.
Guṇa-saṅkhyāne — in the teaching of the guṇas (Sāṅkhya philosophy). Kṛṣṇa will detail: sāttvika, rājasika, tāmasika knowledge; action according to three guṇas; the agent according to three guṇas.
