Mokṣa-Sannyāsa Yoga · Verse 28
अयुक्तः प्राकृतः स्तब्धः शठो नैष्कृतिकोऽलसः | विषादी दीर्घसूत्री च कर्ता तामस उच्यते
ayuktaḥ prākṛtaḥ stabdhaḥ śaṭho naiṣkṛtiko 'lasaḥ | viṣādī dīrgha-sūtrī ca kartā tāmasa ucyate
Not-united, vulgar, obstinate, deceitful, evildoer, lazy, depressed, procrastinating — the agent is called tāmasic.
Tāmasic agent: ayuktaḥ — undisciplined, not in yoga. Prākṛtaḥ — vulgar, materialistic, unrefined.
Stabdhaḥ — obstinate, arrogant. Śaṭhaḥ — deceitful, cunning. Naiṣkṛtikaḥ — evildoer, violent. Alasaḥ — lazy, without energy.
Viṣādī — depressed, melancholic. Dīrgha-sūtrī — of long thread, one who delays everything. A set of inertia, darkness, destruction.
