Mokṣa-Sannyāsa Yoga · Verse 38

विषयेन्द्रियसंयोगाद्यत्तदग्रेऽमृतोपमम् | परिणामे विषमिव तत्सुखं राजसं स्मृतम्

viṣayendriya-saṃyogād yat tad agre 'mṛtopamam | pariṇāme viṣam iva tat sukhaṃ rājasaṃ smṛtam

That which arises from the contact of the senses with objects, which at first is like nectar, but in the result like poison — that pleasure is remembered as rājasic.

Rājasic pleasure: viṣaya-indriya-saṃyogāt — from the union of senses and objects. Agre amṛta-upamam — at first, nectar (immediate, gratifying).

Pariṇāme viṣam iva — in result, poison (attachment, suffering, consequences). It is worldly sensory pleasure, which binds and eventually hurts.
